Two years after Yolanda, we find three districts in Babatngon, Leyte booming with promising progress and beauty. These three districts named San Ricardo, District 3 and District 4 are currently being developed through the Babatngon Kalikasan Habitat Adaptation and Wellness (BAKHAW) Project which aims to protect and manage the mangrove resources while implementing sustainable social enterprise projects that provide enough food and income to the communities.

The BAKHAW Project and Consortium was formally launched in April 2013 with FSSI, Philippine Cooperative Central Fund Federation, VICTO National Federation, Eastern Visayas State University (EVSU), EVSU Multipurpose Cooperative, PHCCI Multipurpose Cooperative, Babantgon and other municipality’s and barangay’s local government units as members. To date, some of the developments in the areas include the inception of duck-raising social enterprise, fish drying and canning and development of eco-tourism sites including the beautiful White Beach in the Canuay Island of District 4.
